Large, reputable company in Los Angeles is looking for a sharp Manager of Operations Accounting who can grow within the company. The position oversees the monthly closing of plant operations, cost accounting function, and inventory related issues.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Supervise cost, inventory and plant support related areas. Develop and train personnel. Create and foster a team atmosphere. Assess organization strengths and weaknesses.
Support plants with inventory issues and accounting treatment issues. Provide policies and procedures associated with plant accounting treatment. Provide training in accounting and costing of inventory to plant personnel. Liaison on inventory and plant accounting issues with manufacturing. Assists in resolving inventory system issues for plants with the IT department.
Prepare monthly, quarterly and year end analysis of inventory accounts, liability accounts, price variance accounts. Review plant income statements, analyze margins, direct costs and balance sheet accounts associated with plant operations
Department performs outside processor accounting, overhead calculation and analysis, FIFO entries, year end and quarterly estimates of LIFO, price variance entries, review and posting of plant prepared journal entries. Calculates and analyzes pricing variances and backend credits associated with purchases.
Other responsibilities include:
Policy and procedures development and update
Oversees the annual physical inventory
Implementation of internal audit recommendations if needed
Develop budget assumptions related to various manufacturing expenses
Oversee budget process
Preparation of audit work papers
Creation of standard journal entries
Approve and post journal entries

Job Qualifications:
BA or BS in Accounting
Strong oral and written communication skills
Inventory systems knowledge
Manufacturing experience with multiple locations
Standard costing experience is required
Knowledge of overhead components and analysis
Knowledgeable on revenue recognition issues
Experience with manufacturing expenses and variance analysis
